The only prehistory established for Dungeons & Dragons in canonical sources is an event known as The Dawn War, in which the first pantheon of Gods battled the Primordials (cosmic beings somewhat akin to Titans) for the right to rule the universe.  It is common to all the most well known Campaign Settings, whether it be Oerth, Toril or Athas. I have a new goal in life, or at least on my off-time:  resurrect the Chainmail Medieval Combat Ruleset.  The ruleset has not been updated since 2002, and what's worse is that there isn't even an online release for it anymore.  I am using the stats and figures from the 4th Edition line of Dungeons & Dragons, and the good folks at Wizards of the Coast have been promising to restart the figure line.  However, it is incumbent on me to finish updating the actual rules.  As a kid, I watched the neighbor boys play D&D and paint figurines, and at the time it all seemed so slow.  Now, I understand that what I saw as slow was actually methodical. The DC Animated Universe (DCAU) began with a single property...Batman: The Animated Series, but it quickly spawned many other series. The inevitable next step was Superman: The Animated Series, which the WB scheduled back to back for the benefit of the afterschool crowd.
